Golden Jubilee Street Parties

Switch of Dates for Bedford Park Festival

The Bedford Park Festival, one of the biggest community events in the local calendar, will take place a week later than usual next year, because of the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations. Schools have moved their half-term holidays to the first week of June, to coincide with the Jubilee weekend, so the Festival is moving too.

"The opening Green Days weekend is very much a family event and we would not want to hold it when many families are away" says Father Kevin Morris, vicar of St Michael & All Angels Church, which organises the event. The Green Days fete will now take place on Saturday June 15th and Sunday June 16th 2002, and the Festival itself will run until June 30th.

"This year's Festival was one of the most successful ever" said Father Kevin. "It generated a real community spirit and raised over £25,000 for the St Michael's Parish Hall Appeal and the Upper Room homelessness project in Shepherd's Bush. We hope we can do as well next year."

On September 30th, at 10am, the church and congregation will celebrate the Feast of St Michael & All Angels with the annual children's pageant, starting on Acton Green (opposite the church on the corner of Bath Road, W4). Children are invited to come dressed as angels or St Michael and help slay the dragon - to the accompaniment of the Eureka Dixieland Jazz Band! The preacher will be the Bishop of Cork.
